Ground Hog Day
Ground Hog Day
No, not the movie, just a fun day about the midway point of winter.
In my part of the world, January was a bitterly cold month, with about a week of extremely mild weather. Truly fascinating how dramatically the weather can change!
Groundhog Day is a fun day to listen to the predictions of some rodents!
The groundhog closest to me is Wiarton Willie. He did not see his shadow, which according to folklore means an early spring!
In the United States, Wiarton Willie’s counterpart — Punxsutawney Phil — did not see his shadow either.
Part of the fun is that even if they did see their shadow, according to folklore, there would be 6 more weeks of winter.
Early spring vs 6 more weeks of winter? Seems like the same difference to me!
So what! It is still a fun day to look ahead and anticipate spring!
